![]() I came away from the app with a cinemagraph I’m proud of, especially for a first attempt. My experience with Flixel was exciting, enlightening, and fun. I think Flixel is the way forward - as a photographer, I see it as pushing the boundaries, and exploring new ways to express creativity. ![]() The beauty of Flixel is that the software can be used from any mobile device, anywhere, any time, on the go! Although the app can be downloaded onto any iOS device, I would definitely recommend working with an iPad, which provides a much bigger workspace than an iPhone. Think about your subject whether it be a mug of steaming coffee, falling autumn leaves, or running water you should have an engaging background that matches and compliments the mood of the subject. This should apply with your cinemagraph too, and the background is a big part of aesthetic photography. If you’re a photographer, think of your cinemagraph as a regular photograph - you would put effort into making the photograph appealing, wouldn’t you? You might even apply the rule of thirds. As well as my Nikon D3300, I used a Nikkor 55–200mm ‘zoom’ lens, so I could record my footage from further away, and it also added an effective gaussian blur. Although you can make a cinemagraph using an iPhone, I would always use a camera - preferably a DSLR. If you’re interested in cinemagraphs, and plan on having a go at Flixel Cinemagraph Pro yourself, here are a few things I’d recommend considering to produce an amazing cinemagraph.Īs a student, and a perfectionist, I wanted to produce my cinemagraphs in the best resolution possible.
